Wilston Grange

Founded by Len Gregory in 1943, Wilston Grange entered the Queensland Australian National Football League seven years later and went on to enjoy an unbroken thirty-nine year involvement in the competition before combining with Kedron at the end of the 1989 season. During those thirty-nine seasons the club contested five grand finals for three flags but overall its finals participation was sporadic. Probably the major highlights in the Gorillas’ history came in 1969 when they came from last position the previous year to win a flag, and in 1972 when they trounced Sandgate in the grand final by a then record margin for such a match of 84 points.

Among the finest players to represent the club were Barry Clarke, a dual Grogan Medallist who represented the state 16 times, Merv Appleyard who made 17 Queensland appearances in addition to winning the 1968 Grogan Medal, Alan Ahlberg, Kelvin Mills, Keith Leach, and Peter Morrison. Full forward Steve Taylor bagged a century of goals in a QAFL record four successive seasons between 1969 and 1972 while Syd Guildford was the club's all time games played record holder with 333 appearances.

A reconstituted Wilston Grange Football Club has completed in the AFL Queensland State League since 2014 when they finished seventh of ten teams. Since then they have come third in 2015, eighth in 2016 and eighth again (of nine) in both 2017 and 2018.
